Bigg Boss 20 has got its first official wildcard contestant, and the new entrant is a familiar face for television audiences. Actor Manish Goel entered the Salman Khan-hosted reality show during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode, initially giving the housemates the impression that he had arrived to promote a project. The actual twist came when his stay in the house was revealed as a wildcard entry. Goel's entry brings considerable television experience into a house largely driven by new-generation reality personalities and influencers. With popular shows such as Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Bhabhi and Anupamaa among his credits, he is not a newcomer to the world of Indian television..

From Television Serials to Reality Shows
Bigg Boss is not Manish Goel's first experience with reality television. He previously participated in Nach Baliye Season 1 alongside his wife, television actress Poonam Narula. The couple finished as runners-up in the celebrity dance reality show. Goel has also appeared in non-fiction and reality programmes including Zara Nachke Dikha, Say Shava Shava and Ustaadon Ka Ustaad. In 2013, he won the celebrity cooking reality show Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki, adding another reality-show achievement to his television career. This background could prove useful inside the Bigg Boss house because he already has experience performing in front of cameras in unscripted television formats..
Manish Goel's Film Career
Goel has also explored the film industry. His film credits include Hum Phirr Milein Na Milein, for which he also received a writing credit, and Hanak. While television remains the strongest part of his professional identity, his work outside daily soaps shows that his experience extends beyond acting in television serials..
Why Did Manish Goel Enter Bigg Boss 20?
For Goel, the reality show represents an opportunity to show audiences a side of himself that they may not have seen through his television characters. In an interview with Mid-Day, Goel said that despite working in television for around two decades or more, viewers largely know him through the characters he has played. He described the Bigg Boss experience as a chance for people to get to know the person behind those roles. That distinction is particularly relevant to Bigg Boss. Unlike a scripted television show, the reality format places contestants in an environment where their everyday behaviour, opinions, relationships and reactions become part of the programme. For an actor who has spent much of his career playing fictional characters, that can offer a very different kind of visibility..
What Happened During His Bigg Boss 20 Entry?
Manish Goel's entry was presented as a surprise during Weekend Ka Vaar. He appeared alongside Salman Khan, with the initial setup suggesting that he had come to the show for a project-related appearance. The contestants were then surprised when it became clear that he was actually joining the house as the season's first wildcard contestant. His arrival immediately added another experienced television personality to the competition. Goel also began sharing his observations about the existing contestants. He described Mahhi Vij as "calculative", while Vij appeared pleased to see him because the two already knew each other..
What Could Manish Goel Bring to Bigg Boss 20?
Wildcard contestants often enter the show after the original house dynamics have already begun taking shape. That gives them a different position from the contestants who entered on the first day. Manish Goel comes in with years of television experience and familiarity with reality-show formats. He has also had the advantage of watching the season develop before becoming a contestant himself. That could allow him to enter the game with an understanding of existing relationships, conflicts and personalities. At the same time, his experience could work both ways. Established television actors can attract attention because viewers already know them, but Bigg Boss ultimately depends on how a contestant behaves inside the house. Previous popularity does not automatically translate into success in the reality-show format..
Manish Goel's Personal Life
Manish Goel is married to television actress Poonam Narula. The couple worked together on the first season of Nach Baliye, where they finished as runners-up. The actor has generally maintained a relatively private personal life compared with many contemporary television celebrities. That makes his decision to enter Bigg Boss particularly interesting because the show places personal interactions and day-to-day behaviour directly in front of the audience..
Manish Goel's Journey Before Bigg Boss
One of the more interesting aspects of Goel's story is the length of his journey. In an interview around his Bigg Boss entry, he spoke about facing numerous unsuccessful auditions during a difficult phase of his career. He also recalled starting out at a very young age and eventually building a long television career. His journey therefore represents a different route into Bigg Boss compared with contestants who become famous primarily through social media or short-form content. He enters the house with an established acting career behind him..
Will Manish Goel Be Able to Change the Game?
That remains to be seen. His experience could help him understand camera dynamics and television storytelling, while his long career may give him confidence in dealing with different personalities. But Bigg Boss is unpredictable. The real test will be how he handles nominations, disagreements, friendships, tasks and the pressure of living with other contestants. His ability to remain authentic while navigating the game's strategy could determine how far he goes...
